 About LiSS Ι Description Ι Objectives 

Primary Objective

To increase and deepen knowledge about living and working in the surveillance age, in order to better understand the consequences and impacts of enhanced surveillance, and subsequently to make recommendations about its future governance and practice.

Objective 1: Advancing science and making a contribution to knowledge

To consolidate existing knowledge of divergent surveillance practices and trajectories across Europe and to generate significant new insights into the role played by surveillance in everyday life.

Objective 2: Advancing the utility of research for European practitioners and service providers
To provide a platform for academic expertise to inform and shape surveillance public policy and practice, and to encourage the development of "best practice" in the use of surveillance technologies.

Objective 3: Advancing awareness of surveillance across society
To raise awareness about surveillance issues and practices amongst citizens, government and public service providers.

Objective 4: Advancing research capacity

To enable academic researchers in surveillance studies to share experiences and to develop collaborative research arrangements, programmes and activities, in order to provide a basis for future surveillance research and to provide existing researchers with a platform to inform public policy and debate.

Objective 5: Advancing the research skills and experience of young researchers

To provide opportunities for Early-Stage Researchers to gain valuable experience of being involved in a large international comparative research programme.
