Christel Backman has been a doctoral candidate at the Department of Sociology since 2006. Her interests is in the Sociology of Law, and her current research concerns the changes in the law of the criminal record and their implications. Due to specific Swedish circumstances, it is an excellent case for studying how actors in society challenge and transform legal boundaries. It is also a possibility to study how governance surveillance through state databases can be used by other actors, and have implications not intended by the legislator.
