My research interests are: critical social theory, social theory, ICTs and society, media and society, technology and society, political economy. I am author of more than 100 academic publications, including the monograph "Internet and Society: Social Theory in the Information
Age" (New York: Routledge 2008). I am editor of the journal tripleC (Cognition, Communication, Co-operation): Journal for a Global Sustainable Information Society that specializes in information society studies and critical media and communication studies. I hold a master's degree in computer science and
 a PhD from the Vienna University of Technology, and a venia docendi in information and communication technologies & society from the University of Salzburg.
