Kovačič, Matej (1974), PhD, researcher at Centre for Public Opinion Research at Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana and assistant professor in area of social informatics and methodology.

His research areas are privacy, surveillance and cybercrime in cyberspace. He published two books, Privacy On the Internet in 2003 and Surveillance and privacy in the information society in 2006. In 2007 he published a chapter titled Privacy and data retention in mobile telephony in publication Mobile reflexions. His work was presented in many expert and scientific conferences in Slovenia and worldwide.
