Prof. Michalis Lianos

Michalis Lianos is Professor at the University of Rouen-Haute Normandie. 

 

 

Biography and research interests

He was previously Lecturer at the University of London (Goldsmiths College) and Director of the “Centre For Empirically Informed Social Theory” (CEIST) at the University of Portsmouth. Michalis works on an empirically informed theory of socio-economic and socio-cultural transition in late modernity. He co-ordinated the European project “Uncertainty and Insecurity in Europe” and co-directs the European Observatory on Liberty and Security at the Paris Institute of Political Science. Michalis is also main partner on the ‘Integrated’ European Project «The Changing Landscape of European Liberty and Security» which involves 21 universities and jointly in charge of the conceptual framework of the ‘Integrated’ European Project «A Micro Level Analysis of Violent Conflict» in which 22 universities conduct 28 projects in 50 countries.

Michalis is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow of the University of Portsmouth and associated researcher to the Maurice Halbwachs Research Centre at the French National Research Institute (CNRS), the French National School of the Social Sciences (EHESS), the Ecole Normale Supérieure of Paris (ENS) and the University of Caen.
