Biography and research interests

Aaron K. Martin is currently completing his PhD at the London School of Economics and Political Science, where he is based in the Information Systems and Innovation Group, Department of Management. His research focuses on the political, ethical, social, and policy aspects of biometrics, identity systems, surveillance, and information and communication technologies (ICTs). He currently teaches a course on e-business at the LSE and previously taught an undergraduate module on technology and society. Aaron’s recent academic publications include articles in Surveillance & Society and the Communications of the Association for Information Systems. He regularly works with the International Development Research Centre, a Canadian development research agency, to explore the privacy and surveillance aspects of ICT projects in developing countries, including recent investigations in the area of e-Health.

Developing Health Privacy: Protecting Medical Information in e-Health Projects: In this project we are scoping the existing and emerging data security and privacy issues in health information systems projects in developing countries and emerging situations, with the aim of applying best practices to ongoing and future e-Health system implementations.
