Massimo Ragnedda, Ph.D. in Theory of Communication and Intercultural Studies at the University of Sassari. In the academic year 2003/2004 he was Visiting Researcher at the Institute of Communication Studies of Leeds University (UK) and in the academic year 2006/2007 he was an affiliated visitor at the Department of Sociology, University of Cambridge (UK). Currently he teaches Sociology of Culture and Sociology of Media at the University of Sassari (Italy). His research focuses on social control through surveillance, the sociological implications of new media technologies and the intersections between computers, the Internet, and contemporary society. He is author of four books and several articles. His latest book is The postpanoptic society: social control in the post modern society, Roma, 2008.
