Research interests: Work and organizations with emphasis on medical science and technology, also other technologies and science fields. Throughout, I have directed attention towards issues of social categorization and distribution, i.e. especially gender but also race, ethnicity, age, class, and other categories. See for instance results of a recent study on video surveillance of public spaces at www.urbaneye.net. These themes will all meet in my latest project "For Whom the Bell Curves" -- a study of statistics practices in population mapping, medicine, policing, and public administration.

Not unrelated to my research, I am currently a member of Norway’s select committee on privacy issues, Personvernkommisjonen.
