Biography and research interests

Jutta Weber, Ph.D., is philosopher, media theorist and STS scholar. She is  professor for media studies at the University of Paderborn,
She held several visiting professorships (i.a. Institute for Computer and Society, University Freiburg ; Centre for Gender Excellence, Uppsala, Sweden, Tu Braunschweig, Germany). She was fellow of the international research group Science in the Context of Application at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies ZIF, University Bielefeld (link to personal ZIF website) and part of the EU-project – Emerging Technoethics of Human Interaction with Communication, Bionic & Robotic Systems. Currently she is finalising her book on Fragments of a Philosophy of Technoscience (working title).

Research interests with regard to LISS:

  • 
proliferation of techno-security in everyday life
  • the military-industry-media-entertainment complex 
  • dual use, civil-military relations, and securitization

  • digital warfare, orientalism and masculinities
- technoscience, surveillance and biopolitcs



Further research interests:


  • philosophy of technoscience

  • the production of technoscientific knowledge (i.a. in robotics, computer science, AI)

  • concept transfer between technosciences and everyday life

  • intersectionality of surveillance, media, governmentality and cultural studies of technoscience

  • theory & didactics of inter- & transdisciplinarity
