Dr Wilson’s research interests centre on the organizational development of policing and the social impact of surveillance technologies. He has designed a major Australian study on public area surveillance and published widely in this area. Dr Wilson also co-edited (with Professor Clive Norris of the University of Sheffield) a volume on Surveillance, Crime and Social Control in the International Library of Criminology and Penology 2nd Series published in 2006. In 2003 Dr Wilson (with Associate Professor Adam Sutton) produced the first major survey study of public area Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) in Australia. Dean has published articles on numerous areas of surveillance including biometrics and border control, identity cards and CCTV. He is currently an Editorial Board member of the journal Surveillance & Society
